The Power of Waterwheels

April 3 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Waterwheels have been used to convert energy all over the world for thousands of years, and hydropower continues to be an important source of renewable energy! Historic Yates Mill County Park has been the site of a water-powered gristmill for over 250 years, and a waterwheel still turns on the mill today. Join park staff for a look into this 18th-century engineering, and to experiment with some waterwheels of your own. In this group program, families and students will create and test miniature waterwheels—engaging with history and scientific inquiry while learning about energy, forces, and motion. Best for ages 7 & up. Registration required for all family members, and children must have adult accompaniment. FREE. Register here.
