Working on the Railroad Day

April 25 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

$13.20 – $16.45

On April 25, we’re excited to bring back a fan-favorite event from a decade ago, Working on the Railroad Day! With train rides at 10:30am, 12:00pm, and 1:30pm, guests are invited to spend the day exploring the history of railroading through engaging, hands-on exhibits.

Do know know how train crew communicated before radios were invented? Have you ever seen a Telegraph machine? Do you know how the design of train wheels keeps trains on the tracks? Have you ever wondered why a 100-ton locomotive doesn’t sink into the ground? Do you think you can pound a railroad spike into the tie plate?

Discover the answers to these questions and more throughout the day.  Exhibits will be open from 9:30am to 3:30pm, so there will be plenty of time to explore before or after your train ride.

The NC Transportation Museum will be bringing their mobile exhibits, and Operation Lifesaver and NC DOT Railsafe will be onsite.

A variety of food trucks will also be on site serving delicious food and drinks to round out the festivities.

Disclaimer: While we do our best to keep this calendar accurate and up to date, event details are subject to change. Please always confirm directly with the venue or organizer before heading out!
