Town of Fun: Adorable Indoor Playground in Morrisville NC

Amy Hartle

We’re currently on a mission to visit all the indoor playgrounds and spots for family fun in the Triangle. If you don’t see something on our site yet, it’s definitely in the works!

In August of 2024, a new indoor playground came to town, and we were SO excited! Morrisville was one spot that really needed an indoor space for young kiddos to play, and Town of Fun picked a perfect location right near RTP.

Town of Fun has quickly become one of our favorite places to play. It’s perfect for my 2.5 year old. We also see lots of kids both older and younger every time we visit. This indoor playground is designed for kids up to around age 7.

Take a look at our video of Town of Fun here!

Town of Fun Review – Morrisville NC Indoor Playground

There is something so cute about the concept of a tiny town. And that’s exactly what Town of Fun is. It’s an indoor play space designed to be a tot-sized town. There are shops, restaurants, a doctor’s office, and more. Kids can pretend to their heart’s content in this adorable setup.

The main attraction at Town of Fun are the half dozen or so playhouses spread around the perimeter of the room. Kids can enter these houses and get lost in their imagination. My son loves the fire station, grocery store, and retro style diner. And these playhouses aren’t too small for adults to fit inside, too! So I’ve enjoyed being served a “meal” at the Town of Fun diner!

The little details in each playhouse are great, and there are many activities inside. In the veterinarian’s office, you can “examine” several cats and dogs, put them away in kennels, and even pretend to bathe them.

At the grocery store you can shop for produce, ring up customers, or just push your shopping cart around the room!

In the background, a fire truck prop, Little Sprout Market storefront, and a red-brick fire station with a slide contribute to the imaginative town theme. Bright natural light fills the space, and colorful play mats, props, and activity stations are scattered throughout the room

If kids tire of playing in the tiny town, there’s lots more to do here, too. The center of the room is taken up by a massive block table. Kids can let their imagination run wild as they build and play here.

In one corner of the room is a peg-style wall, where kids can place tubes, ramps, and more to create complicated ball drops or other cool elements that play with physics. I actually find this corner super fun as an adult and love to help build!

A soft play area designed for children aged 3 and under at Town of Fun indoor playground, featuring pastel-colored foam structures, including steps, slides, and climbing elements. A pink squirrel-shaped slide sits at the entrance, and a variety of ramps and soft blocks fill the enclosed space. Large windows bring in natural light, with greenery visible just outside.

One of the best features of Town of Fun is the large soft play area designed for kids 3 and under. This colorful area is filled with ramps, platforms, and lots of space for little ones to play. This is an ideal spot to sit with crawlers or new walkers, too, as everything is soft and protected.

I really love that Town of Fun has this because there aren’t many other indoor playgrounds in the Triangle with a designated area for the little ones. One exception is Cub House Play House, which has a great enclosed toddler/baby area, but that is located in Clayton. For families on this side of the Triangle, Town of Fun is unique in offering this!

Oh, and I can’t forget about the ball pit! This is one of my son’s favorite activities here. The ball pit is inviting and small enough to be manageable for a little one. Here he is having a “Ball!”

A young child with curly hair joyfully plays in a ball pit filled with white plastic balls at Town of Fun indoor playground. Wearing a colorful striped romper, the child throws a ball with an excited expression, surrounded by soft, pastel-colored walls.

Some more things we love about Town of Fun:

  • They don’t sell coffee, but you can totally bring your own (which I actually prefer)! There’s local favorite Fount Coffee just down the road.
  • They do sell a few snacks and water/juice.
  • I love the open layout. The room is large but it’s so easy to watch your kids while they play.
  • Lots of natural light!
  • Limited capacity/timed play sessions. At first I thought this might be a negative thing, having to choose a specific time to come and play. But it’s actually really nice, because the staff cleans and refreshes in between EVERY session. That means when you come in to play, the room looks pristine and welcoming. You’re never walking into chaos!
  • Good membership prices. There’s a ton of value in purchasing a membership here, because then you can play every single day. This pays for itself in just a few visits. On the other hand, a single visit is a little bit pricey.

Birthday Parties at Town of Fun

While Town of Fun is great for open play, you should also know that they host birthday parties. The space is set up so well for parties, with the left side of the room dedicated for tables, food, and decor. You can choose from several party packages they offer and can even get your decor included, and I think this could be a wonderful option. I attended a birthday party here and the decor was some of the cutest I’ve ever seen!

A farm-themed birthday party setup with pastel decorations, including a large pink barn backdrop adorned with a bow, colorful balloon garlands in shades of pink, teal, and brown, and cardboard cutouts of a pig, cow, and horse. The centerpiece features a tiered cake with farm animal decorations, surrounded by floral arrangements, party favors, and a sign that reads 'Sarah is 2' displayed on a candy shelf.

You can visit their website for all the info about birthday party packages, open play, memberships, and even the new classes they’re starting to offer, like Zumbini!
