The Clayton Center and the Town of Clayton present a Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 13.

Join us for a full day of events:

  • 11:00 AM: Researching Ancestors of Color in North Carolina

    Explore effective strategies for researching ancestors of color, including formerly enslaved individuals and free people of color. Participants will learn about key record types and resources that support this work, as well as practical methods for extracting genealogically relevant information about people of color from a wide range of historical documents. Presented by Renate Yarborough Sanders, an experienced genealogist and educator. Sponsored by Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library. (Council Chambers)

  • 2:00 PM: Vendor Fair

    Celebrate Black culture, history, and entrepreneurship at the Vendor Fair, featuring 18 local businesses representing ethnic food, local artisans, unique crafts, and a Line Dance Workshop. (Main Lobby)

  • 3:00 PM: 400 Years: The Evolution of Black America

    Experience the powerful stage production, 400 Years: The Evolution of Black America, which chronicles the Black experience through poetry, music, dance, and visual art. Presented by Book Black Women and No Longer Bound. (Auditorium)
