Calling all strawberry lovers and families in the Raleigh area! As spring rolls in and the sun warms up the earth, there’s no better time to indulge in one of the sweetest traditions around: strawberry picking! And there are many great places to go strawberry picking in Raleigh NC and in the surrounding Triangle towns.

Check out these farms for your next pick-your-own fruit adventure!

Page Farms

Page Farms offers a delightful strawberry picking experience with a scenic backdrop. They typically open for strawberry picking season in late April to early May. Their hours are Monday – Saturday 8AM – 6PM and Sundays 9AM – 6PM. They have flowers and vegetables as well.

DJ’s Berry Patch

DJ’s Berry Patch is a family-owned farm known for its juicy strawberries. Visitors can enjoy picking their own strawberries and exploring the farm’s picturesque surroundings. The season here typically lasts from mid-April through late May.

PS: They have some cute photo opps where kiddos can stick their face through large wooden strawberries.

Porter Farms & Nursery

Porter Farms & Nursery is a popular destination for strawberry picking near Raleigh. A family farm, Porter Farms has 2 locations: one in Raleigh and one in Willow Spring. They’ve also got fresh produce and ice cream!

Porter Farms hopes to have strawberries available for picking into June, and they will also have PYO blackberries beginning in June, too!

Smith’s Nursery and Strawberry Farm, situated in Benson, NC, is worth the drive from Raleigh or Durham. With rows of plump, juicy strawberries ready for picking, it’s an ideal spot for a family outing during strawberry season. This is my personal favorite spot, as they have a play area, farm animals, and more. It’s so lovely!

Current Hours: Monday – Friday 9 am to 6 pm, Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm

Hunts Strawberry Farm

Hunts Strawberry Farm is a family-owned farm that has been offering strawberry picking for generations. They pride themselves on their high-quality strawberries and welcoming atmosphere.

Another top spot to go strawberry picking in the Triangle! Lyon Farms also has pre-picked strawberries and other veggies available. Here are their current hours: Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM, Saturday 8AM-6PM, Sunday 1PM-6PM.

Grasshopper Farms, nestled in Knightdale, offers a delightful strawberry picking experience for visitors. With their well-tended fields and abundance of ripe strawberries, it’s a fantastic spot for families looking to enjoy a day of outdoor fun and berry picking.

McAdams Farm is a bit outside of the Triangle proper, located west of Hillsborough. But worth a visit to this peaceful rural setting. Plus, they are kind of an institution, having been farming in North Carolina for over 135 years!
